Fictional project: artistic collaboration between Christian Louboutin and three major contemporary artists
The artists & inspirations:
Yayoi Kusama: her signature polka dots reflect infinite repetition and feminine energy.
Niki de Saint Phalle: the voluptuous, colorful forms of her “Nanas” inspire bold shapes and joyful empowerment.
Jeff Koons: his pop-kitsch universe adds playfulness and provocative luxury, exploring themes of desire and excess.
Concept: “High Heels Forbidden. Masterpieces Allowed.”
Christian Louboutin, the iconic designer behind the legendary red sole, has always seen women as living works of art. Inspired by a sign prohibiting high heels—meant to protect delicate parquet floors—he transformed this ban into a bold artistic statement. In this fictional collaboration, he partners with three world-renowned artists to reimagine the stiletto as a canvas of expression and empowerment.
Execution:
Design of three unique shoe models named: Loubou Yoi, Loubou Niki, and Loubou Koons.
Creation of a striking poster centered on the tagline “High Heels Forbidden. Masterpieces Allowed.”, echoing the original inspiration behind the red sole.
Use of a parquet floor background to directly reference the sign that sparked Louboutin’s creative rebellion.
Visual composition based on multiple perspectives, highlighting the diversity of artistic visions.
